Swannanoa Montessori School and the WNC Magic Club Presented a Fantastic Fundraiser Vaudleville Show
In conjunction with the Swannanoa Montessori School, the WNC Magic Club recently presented a fantastic fundraiser Vaudeville Magic Show to a packed auditorium in Black Mountain. This event enabled the WNC Magic Club members an opportunity to showcase their talent while helping generate revenue for both organizations.
Leading the evening off was our Master of Ceremonies for the event was TJ Shimeld, as the popular Wendal Wandell. He introduced the performers while also featuring his own wondrous effects between the other entertainer’s acts.
First up was Ricky Boone and Stephanie – as renowned and award winning Magic Times Two. They presented a fanciful tale of Jack and the Beanstalk as Ricky proceeded to make the Queen of Spades vanish before everyone’s eyes.
This duo, in addition to an audience member, proceeded to an excellent escape effect. Ricky was handcuffed and chained (he even had his thumbs shackled!), but was able to escape the bondage and proceeded to inspire the audience not to let things in life bind them – but to live life to the fullest. It is always special to watch Ricky perform his stage shows and hear his inspirational messages. Ricky is an inspiration to us all! Read More About this Article

Equally memorable was the man teaching the class, Ricky Boone, a practicing magician who showed Mark his very first magic trick — how to snatch an invisible coin from thin air. “I still perform that trick publicly,” Mark says, nearly 20 years later.
Mark is one of 26 members of the WNC Magic Club, founded in 1992 by Ricky Boone, owner of Asheville’s magic shop Magic Central, and three other magicians, with Ricky as the founding president. “It started in people’s homes,” remembers the club’s current president, Sean Merrick. “The founders were a group of magicians who wanted to take magic to a higher level, and they began to have secret meetings where they could grow and share the art.” Read More About this Article
